Red Herring

Have you guys played Red Herring? It's an app on iPhone (free!) and it's a kind of puzzle type game.

You choose a difficulty level and then you have to sort the words it gives you into categories.

But some of the words can be put into different categories - the red herrings!

I like to do the puzzles when I'm on the bus and when you complete all of them (there's a lot!) you can buy more or you can do the free puzzle that gets delivered every day.

The only problem with this app is that it's American, so some celebrities or brand names I didn't know.

Other than that it's a great boredom buster. Go download it, I promise you'll be hooked (pun intended).

iPhone 5s

I got the new iPhone 5s the other week, I'm not one to get the latest gadgets normally but my contract was up so I thought I'd go for it...

Decided to go for the gold because I thought it'd be funny

It isn't so different from my last iPhone but now I get Siri and the phone unlocks by finger print (which I took delight in testing). I'm liking the phone but I am of course now terrified of breaking it.

FashionInc App

I downloaded a new app the other day that I thought I'd share. Probably one for the girls rather then the menfolk.

It's called FashionInc, this is your little shop here.

And you basically run the shop and design the clothes in it etc.

This is the marketing floor where you can advertise your clothes to increase sales (e.g. by flyer)

This is the designing floor where you get to pick out items of clothes that are plain white, you then choose the colour and pattern you want them.

Then you have the tailors floor where they make your clothes for you. After that it's down to the bottom floor where the shop is.

It's quite fun to play on the bus but it's a battery drainer and has a few bugs to kink out.

Unblock Me

I got a new app on my iPhone the other day, it's called Unblock Me.

You select a mode - obviously I'm rubbish so I picked the relax mode

And then it's just a simple puzzler

You have to shuffle all the blocks to the free the red one

Hurrah! And all the puzzles gradually get more difficult (very gradually).

It's a nice game you can do without thinking too much : )

The Heist

I tried out a new app called The Heist on my iPhone.

It's a puzzle game but it's actually really good. You open to a vault and then I was very confused as my phone seemed to be ringing?

But it was just the game, Sophia is your contact to the gang that wants you to open the safe.

Your vault then has four locks (in red) and four different types of puzzle on the tool bar below.

The first type is a block puzzle that gets more difficult

The next is a symbol puzzle

The rules are the same as sudoku but no numbers

The third is a cube and is a little robot game

You have to push the little cubes over a square to make them light up but you cant pull them

Then the last game is a slide puzzle where you need to connect wires

They start off very easy

But the difficult ones are really difficult!

Anyway, it's a really good game with variety and at the moment it's free so go take a look

Plague Inc. App

My iPhone is in the land of the living again (hurrah!), and to celebrate I bought myself a new app, Plague Inc.

It's a game where you play a plague (of your choice) and have to destroy humanity... you know, as you do.

First off you select a difficulty, I obviously play in casual mode because I'm useless.

You then pick what sort of plague you wish to be...

You pick a country to infect.

And then you start getting DNA points, the better your plague is the more points you get. With these points you can develop your plague like how it's transmitted.

Or the gruesome symptoms...

Resistance to cures...

And then it's a race against the time it takes the world to build a cure and this...

It's very addictive (and a bit messed up?), cost me all of 69p but then you either have to earn the extra diseases by completing so many levels in normal or buy them. What a chore.

Frustrated

So... whilst my iphone is irrevocably damaged beyond repair I keep seeing really awesome things to blog about (by awesome, I mean awesome to me, not to normal people). The knitting vandals have attacked City Hall, my cat had his birthday, I tried a new Delia recipe, we've been invaded by ants and I've had some exciting news too and can I photographs any of this? NO! Well... I could find new batteries for my digital camera... but what a chore! If anyone presents me with a set of working AA batteries I shall present them with a glorious blog post in their honour. Sad times.

Having Words With Friends

A while back when I got my phone someone mentioned that I'd be off playing 'Words with friends', "What?" I'd said, "You'll see" she said. And now, I do see. It's pretty much scrabble which is ok.

You get paired with random people to play against or with people that you know on Facebook that also play.

But you also get a lot of cheats, I don't know what dampidpn means, nor do I understand yofjneto but I do think it sucks that if you resign against the cheater then you lose and there's no way to report it or flag it up!! Boo.

I'm undecided.

Going on a Bear Hunt

Me and my dear beloved often enjoy watching Bear Grylls programmes on discovery. I think he enjoys them because they're quite funny and interesting; I enjoy them because of impending sense of doom for society as we know it from zombies or war... anyway...

The other day we were watching some new episodes and saw he had a tour of talks - awesome!

Only the closest date is in London... and the tickets are about £40... and it's on a Monday. So I guess we can't really afford to go which annoying what with the tickets and train fares and day off. Boo.

But I cheered myself up by getting the Bear Grylls iPhone app for the much more reasonable price of £1.99.

I gotta say, it's actually really fun and it has some good stuff on other than the info parts and videos and instructional stuff, it has gadgets! My favourite is the one where you type in things and it flashes it (BRIGHTLY) in morse code. Fun.

So anyway I'm a little bummed we can't go to the tour but I've ordered his latest book so hopefully a lot of it will be in there. After some further reading on Bear though, I feel a bit sorry for his wife. They live on a houseboat on the Thames with their three sons, and then the rest of the year they live here:

A remote Welsh island where they are the only inhabitants, no TV or phones etc and... surely the worst bit... in one article Bear said that him, Shara his wife and their three sons Jesse, Huckleberry and Marmaduke (yes, really) all bathe together! I like my family... but the idea of bathing with them all together is not even slightly appealing. But then again neither is drinking my own urine or eating a raw snake, sorry Bear, lets agree to disagree and next time, come visit Norwich on your tour!
