The Strangest Arcade I've Seen...

We went to visit Southwold over the weekend and whilst investigating the Pier we came across a very bizarre set of arcade games including...

Some sort of nuclear reactor game

A mobility game where you had to cross a motorway with a zimmer frame

A dog walking simulator

A photobooth where you have to enact the emotion it gives you

A mean spinner that decides whether the little sheep is a pet or becomes dinner.. the little lamb didn't fare well when we saw someone try this game

An old lady's armchair holiday game

And a work out machine for slobs. The boyfriend catagorically refused to try any of the games... and I couldn't blame him haha but we did both try to encourage the other to get into one game where you had to sit in a cupboard.

Southwold Seaside

We went to Southwold today

The weather was so warm and the day was beautiful

And we were well protected from scurvy sea dogs

Had a nice sandy stroll

All along the pier were little plaques dedicated to people or for anniversaries. We even saw a few proposals!

We resisted the old fashioned sweet shop... just, although we didn't resist the ice cream van haha

I can't believe I've never been here before, it's really pretty! Did you have a nice weekend?

Call of Duty Widowhood

Does anyone out there ever see this sort of scene on TV? (what a camper)

How about that view a couple times a week? Welcome to Call of Duty Widowship. Siiiigh. It almost makes me miss Formula One and Football... ok not quite.

A Little Bit Orkney

Do you ever think it might be nice to live on the Isle of Wight or Jersey or something? Maybe not forever but for a little while as a novelty. Only you need to bring some sort of skill to the island and get a work permit and you're not considered a resident until after X years and the property prices are through the roof? Ugh, who needs it?

As many of you may know I'm obsessed with having a log cabin and my new ideal location for my log cabin is the Orkey Isles - all the charm of the Channel Islands but no work permits or restrictions and stuff like that (good thing too as I'm skill-less haha!). What a lovely place to retire to maybe and keep chickens, get a little boat and frolic.

Cheap rents, still part of the UK so all the same benefits and health care etc. You can still shop off the internet, the sea means its not too cold, catch the northern lights, not too many neighbours. Oh glorious chickens... one day you will be mine.

Uncharitable Ranting

I'll start off by saying I think it's a good thing to donate to charity. But do you ever wish you didn't get asked to donate quite so often? Every day without fail I get asked to donate by one of this list:

  1. Big Issue sellers - my pet hate
  2. I guy I walk past on a bridge every morning on the way to work who wants charitable donations for his  scribbles with a blue biro pen... err... no thanks
  3. TV ads
  4. Work (although this one is usually for food or something fun so that's fine by me!)
  5. Street canvassers who try to lure you in with phrases like "Are you against animal cruelty?" If you say no you're a jerk, if you say yes then they attack you with guilt trips to extract your bank details from you in the middle of the street (so not going to happen)
  6. Added payments on things I'm already buying, tick the box to donate 20p to such and such
  7. Friends and relatives and people you hardly know wanting sponsorship - often for something that must be quite costly in the first place such as climbing treacherous mountain peaks

Anyway, I get a bit fed up of it all the time. I'm starting to think I should just walk about with money pinned to me so people can just pick it off me! I especially resent campaigns where you aren't told much about it. Like starving people in Africa, why are they starving and for how long? Also if they keep having a ton of babies the problem will grow at a rate of knots, do they need family planning, better farming? Is there a war near? What's going on? If I donate £15 a month will it actually help solve the problem or just prolong the inevitable? Also Africa is a rather large continent, where is the problem?

And poor little so and so that has to walk hours and hours to the well and back every day for water? Just what exactly is preventing little so and so and their family from moving closer to the well? Militants? Farming conditions? I need more information before I just hand you my money. And what about my taxes? Doesn't the government pay for aid? Am I paying twice or is that not getting to those specific people?

And then there's the sheer number of charities. If we all give a little to each what would that solve? And surely some charities like for starving people are more valid than charities for sports equipment? Perhaps the solution would be for the whole country to pick one charity a year to all donate to and maybe we could start ticking off problems rather than throwing a bottomless pit of money at everything?

Bottom line, if I have to be bothered whilst I go about my daily life this week for more charitable donations I'll spontaneously combust. Rant over.

Let's Go A-Wandering

We took a litle trip out to Bacton Woods today

It was a little cool and a lot muddy but I think it was pretty good walking weather

We took the yellow trail which was only 2.5 miles

Times got tough and we had to built a shelter to eat our rations in..... that's a lie actually we're far to lazy to build that

We finished our walk at the curly tree... and then a pub lunch... gotta keep the strength up, you know?

No Likey, No Bitey

So it's a normal day for my kitty...

Until he's suddenly, imprisoned in a cat carrier...

And he finds himself at... THE VETS!!! For booster jabs, which other than him growling at the nice lady vet who was petting him went fairly well.

But he was very pleased to get home. At least he didn't bite anyone.

Nostalgia

Last weekend we had the boyfriend's nephew to stay and I was so thrilled that all his favourite toys were toys I'd loved when I was a kid like Lego and Where's Wally books. He liked watching Tom & Jerry even. Although whilst flicking through kids channels I noticed they've remade Fireman Sam! This is a travesty.

Anyways, I got major nostalgia over all the kid stuff. I do miss Sharky and George most of all.

Forget the Navy, in my day, Sharky and George where the crimebusters of the sea...

Loved Up

That time of year has been.....

And gone..

I got some nice goodies (which were really helpful to my failure of a diet... ahem) and we went to a Mediterranean restaurant which was nice but I had wanted to to do the 2 dine for £20 meal from Marks & Spencers where you get a starter, main course, dessert, wine and chocolates but they'd all sold out the day before Valentine's and, my sources tell me, on the Saturday before Valentine's too! So thanks for ruining that Marks & Spencer and then advertising on TV constantly to taunt me! So not amused.

Did you enjoy your Valentine's Day or did you shun it and declare it to be just another Tuesday?

Supermarket's Own Brand

I like Alpen cereal for breakfast before work but it's not the cheapest cereal, so when the boyfriend said why don't you try the supermarket brand of it I thought yeah why not, it's probably the exact same thing.... eurgh. It is not. It is the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted... recently.

And so I'm adding it to the list of things you should always buy the branded version of:

  1. Ketchup
  2. Beans
  3. Alpen
I notice the supermarket brand says it has no artifical things in, perhaps thats the tasty ingredient missing? Have a pleasant Monday and think of me this week with no breakfast :(

Tea Is For Drinking

The resident boyfriend and I have an ongoing disagreement. He thinks that your evening meal is called 'tea', where as I think that tea is a hot drink and that the evening meal is 'dinner' (which is why you dine!). And whenever someone mentions having tea or dinner we argue against each other that so and so says 'tea' so I must be right.

Now... ladies and gentlemen... I have the answer which I came across randomly whilst reading someone else's blog giving away vouchers to a tea room, I clicked on the website and read (and I believe this is verbatim!):

"Two distinct forms of tea services evolved: ‘low’ and ‘high’ tea. Low tea, enjoyed in the low or early part of the afternoon, was served in aristocratic homes and featured gourmet titbits with emphasis being on the presentation and conversation. The working class originated high tea. Not having the means of two main meals each day they combined afternoon tea with the evening meal, serving meats, breads and cakes with hot tea at the end of the day."

And so he wasn't wrong at all, he's just common and I'm clearly aristocracy! It all makes sense now. Musn't tease the peasant, bless him.

Having Words With Friends

A while back when I got my phone someone mentioned that I'd be off playing 'Words with friends', "What?" I'd said, "You'll see" she said. And now, I do see. It's pretty much scrabble which is ok.

You get paired with random people to play against or with people that you know on Facebook that also play.

But you also get a lot of cheats, I don't know what dampidpn means, nor do I understand yofjneto but I do think it sucks that if you resign against the cheater then you lose and there's no way to report it or flag it up!! Boo.

I'm undecided.

Valentine's Prepping Anyone?

Now I know my boyfriend's niece will hate me for asking, but is anyone prepping for Valentines Day?

I got a project in mind but it's coming along sloooowwwly. Check out these cute vouchers though, you just print them out and fill them in. Although maybe I should put some terms and conditions on the back haha.

What are your Valentine's Day plans?

Snow Day

It snowed here Saturday night and on Sunday morning we awoke to find a mini winter wonderland

Enough to create some artwork

But also enough to be a pain when you walk to work the next day...

Did you get any snow?
