Time For A Meal Out

The boyfriend and I are moving soon to be closer to the hospital and university for me and, a little further out of the city into a new build house for him. This means we have an expensive time coming up and so we decided to treat ourselves to a tasty meal before the time of poverty with vans, deposits, 2 rents etc!

We went to the Rushcutters in the river in Thorpe, the boyfriend had tasty cheesy garlic bread for a starter.

I had bruschetta that had hummus, olives, cheese, sun-dried and regular tomatoes and rocket - v nice

Then we both had yummy gourmet burgers, we were so full we couldn't manage dessert!

Bingo!

Last night I tried my hand at Mecca bingo with the boyfriend's mum and sister... I wasn't expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised - it was AWESOME

Was it old biddified? A little bit, but it was so strange! Like a different world. You got in and I was new so I joined up but its free to join so that was ok and I got a free marker to tick off my bingo numbers (score!) and you got a little book that lasts you all night for each game. We had a little time between when we got there and the first game so we got some food. It is super cheap and super nice food.

My tuna melt baguette with chips cost me the princely sum of £2.79 however when you join you get a £2 voucher off your first meal and so twas only 79p! Get in! Then it was time to get our game awwnnn.

As I said you get these little books and work through them for each page (see above, one page) you need to get one line, then the next game is two lines, then the next is a full house, then you turn over to the next page. Sadly I won zilch but it was very funny. Some of the old biddies had upped their game by scrapping their bingo books and markers for lcd touch screen bingo machines! And the machine tells you when you win! Must take all the fun out of it.

It was quite amusing how seriously everyone takes it though, when a game starts everyone has to be quiet and the numbers are called pretty fast and then as soon as the breaks in between come you can talk again. The boyfriend's sister said that once someone collapsed and they just carried on with the bingo game haha!

Apparently the air conditioning wasn't working (although it didn't seem hot to me) so the manager gave a free ice lolly to everyone (yayz) and then, in the bathroom they had helpful pamphlets about gambling addictions and so a jovial night was had by all.

Am I going again? Hell yeah!

Hurrah For Pom Bears

What is more cheery on a bad day than low calorie crisps shaped like a smiley bear complete with belly button?

Plague Inc. App

My iPhone is in the land of the living again (hurrah!), and to celebrate I bought myself a new app, Plague Inc.

It's a game where you play a plague (of your choice) and have to destroy humanity... you know, as you do.

First off you select a difficulty, I obviously play in casual mode because I'm useless.

You then pick what sort of plague you wish to be...

You pick a country to infect.

And then you start getting DNA points, the better your plague is the more points you get. With these points you can develop your plague like how it's transmitted.

Or the gruesome symptoms...

Resistance to cures...

And then it's a race against the time it takes the world to build a cure and this...

It's very addictive (and a bit messed up?), cost me all of 69p but then you either have to earn the extra diseases by completing so many levels in normal or buy them. What a chore.

Bit Of A Career Change...

So...those of you who know me may or may not know, but for the last two years I've been going to night school alongside my full time job in order to apply to university to train up to become a nurse and... even better, I got accepted to start at the UEA this September - it feels like a long time coming!

So it will mean a big lifestyle change for me, I have to give up my lovely secure job with friendly colleagues and become a poor student with the added worry of still having to pay the same amount of bills as I did in full time employment... haven't quite worked that one out yet*! But I figure, if I take this chance and fail, at least I can't regret not trying in the first place. Wish me luck come September...

*Note to self - find a part time job

Untapped Shopping Resource

You know the junk magazines you get in the paper? Do you ever actually read them? If not, I think you're in for a treat, here are some of my favourites....

Want a garden that is both tacky and glowing? Look no further than this Best Seller! Why, it is delightful, the ad says so - and so realistic that I thought I might have to call the RSPCB.

Not your cup of tea? Stick around I've got more - for the discerning customer, a pair of water proof pants that (you'll be pleased to know) help to prevent odours and are quiet! I certainly like my pants to be quiet and I know you will too.

Still no? Well then allow me to introduce your new best friend, the high desirable hair net. It is so lightweight and comfortable you'll never know you've got it on! Everyone else will because you'll look like a twat, but you'll be oblivious. Besides, they're only jealous - don't let them know that one size fits all or else they'll be after yours!

Thank you Healthy Living Direct! I look forward to your next instalment.

My Anderson Shelter

Some of you in the Norwich area might have seen in the local news that a man on Earlham Road came across an old Anderson Shelter in the garden of his newly bought house.

Imagine my delight when I saw he's keeping a blog about it!

And I am waiting eagerly for it to all be dug out. How exciting, go check it out.

Driving Lessons

So I'm still learning to drive (I'm 23 - I know, how pathetic am I?!?) with my very patient instructor Steve and I'm actually getting to the point where, if zombies took over the world, I reckon I would be a good get away driver. I've also passed my theory test (and promptly forgotten all that I had to learn) so I've got that and moving forwards sorted.

My weakness though - manoeuvres. I am utterly crap at them. It's more like I can't remember the steps I need to do in the right order.

Does anyone really need to park? Tips?

Lego Harry Potter

I was a bit childish this weekend and whilst the boyfriend subjected me to endless hours of sport (yawn), I decided I would play Harry Potter Lego years 1-4..... I won't lie... it was pretty damn awesome.

So far I've gone round the leaky cauldron, diagon alley, gringotts, i've been sorted and now I'm going to a few lessons (wingardium leviosa!!).

The nice thing is that the games meant for children so it's quite easy for people that are crap at games like me

How exciting!

Fashion Hater

I'll be the first to admit it - I'm a fashion hater.

I don't buy any magazines with hot fashion tips, I'd much rather shop easily online and (within reason) I prefer comfort over looks. Every time I go into shops they have horde of  fashionable-for-five minutes items that I just can't bring myself to buy (unless it's in Primark in which case, all bets are off). Imagine my surprise when I actually successfully bought some items this last weekend that have been delivered today....... OK OK they were online, I TRIED going into the shops on the high street but it was very traumatic.

Hurrah for patterns and also, one of the tops the boyfriend bought me because he was too lazy to do the washing up so we had an exchange! Score for me!

Also lastly, a big thumbs down for Next, I tried on like 3 t shirts, just regular t shirts and the material was such poor quality you could see through it!! Viva Marks & Spencer!

The Day Back To Work After A Bank Holiday

There's something demoralising about the day after a bank holiday when you go back to work. Especially if, like I did, you realise 15 minutes into your walk to work that your dress has been tucked into your tights...... sigh..... it's going to be a long day....

Fluffernutter!

In the supermarket today I decided I'd treat myself to trying some Marshmallow Fluff! It was £2 BUT it's low fat, hurrah!

I made myself some fluffernutter toast, on goes the peanut butter

On goes the Marshmallow Fluff

Yummerzzzzzzz
