My 26th

I realised I never mentioned it was my birthday last week. It was a pretty quiet day because it was the first day of placement (boo) so I spent my day there then at home... so that was deeply thrilling. I don't really feel older because on the run up to my birthday I kept telling people I was 26 before I even was, this has been going on for at least 2 months... I think I have early onset dementia.

Anyways, before my actual birthday I met up with a couple girls from my cohort and we went for afternoon tea (I know, I know, it's an obsession), we went to the Georgian House Hotel on St Giles in Norwich.

It was really nice there actually, surprisingly nice. Afternoon tea cost £13.50 and you got unlimited hot drinks, four sandwiches, one cheese scone, one fruit scone (by the way, if you pronounce 'scone' as scohhhwwne instead of scon then you're pretentious AND lame!), one mini victoria sponge cake, a flapjack, a mini lemon meringue AND a super rich chocolate truffle thing.

That is a lot for £13.50 and the staff we were so so attentive, they were really friendly. Also they wrapped up left overs for our sick friend like a swan... awww... you guys.

So yeah that was nice and happy birthday to me, one step closer to death... I mean my thirties. Ho hum.

The Boyfriend's Birthday

On Sunday it was the boyfriend's birthday, he's only ever have had one birthday party in his life and it was at McDonalds - the truth is he just doesn't want one! So this year instead of asking if he'd like one I decided he would be getting one whether he wanted it or not and invited just a few of our friends round that live nearby.

I decided as the boyfriend had never had a traditional kids style birthday party I'd get balloons, party bags, games to play and a badly home made cake. These are the boys party bags...

And the girls...

Barclay the cat absolutely loved the rubber bouncy balls and he and I had a great time playing with those for sometime. He didn't however like the balloons which I filled the lounge with in the morning, I put banners up yet the boyfriend was none the wiser until later when his friends arrived.

And out came the party food and pizza and then the cake.

There were games and medals, three legged race, balloon race... here's the victor of the mummy game.

Birthday parties forever!!

Birthday Train Cake

The boyfriend and I have a tradition where each birthday (see here - castle and treasure chest) we make each other a silly cake. This year for the boyfriend I decided to make a train cake and by make, I mean cheat and just stick together. First I got two Madeira cakes and chopped them into blocks for the train and the carriage.

Then I got some Betty Crocker chocolate fudge icing and iced the blocks.

Chopped up some strawberry laces for track, added Oreos for wheels, brownies and a mini roll for the train.

Then I piled up sweets on the carriage with a bit more icing.

Et voila, 40 minutes and you have a birthday cake.

My Birthday

Well I had a super birthday yesterday, I woke up and opened my presents.

Chillaxed and watched cartoons because I'm cool.

Put my cards up.

And then had some friends round for take out pizza. You may remember the boyfriend's cake challenge I issued him last year of a cherry bakewell castle complete with moat and drawbridge. This year I asked for a treasure chest and I think he did rather well!

Birthday Cake

It was my birthday yesterday, I asked for a cherry bakewell castle complete with drawbridge and moat and look how well the boyfriend delivered!

Very impressed !

The rest of my day was spent on placement in hospital so I was glad to get home and open my cards and gifts as you can imagine.
